Demand Response Pacific Gas & Electric Company – San Francisco, California
Ted Flanigan directed the Business Energy Coalition demand response project for Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Francisco in 2005. The program was rolled out and delivering 10 MW of peak capacity reduction to PG&E in record time. Flanigan bore prime responsibility for recruiting 34 downtown San Francisco buildings – from the TransAmerica tower to the Fairmont Hotel – contracting data acquisition and software providers to track load reductions, and managing a process involving dozens of building owners and facilities operators, several PG&E departments, and a team of engineers and program administrators. The project was heralded by PG&E’s executive management and by the President of the California Public Utilities Commission.
