Naturopathic Medicines Now Found to Help Improve Poor Body Health

Dr. Bob McCauley is a naturopathic doctor, an entrepreneur, and author. Thirty-three years ago he founded the Watershed Wellness Center in Lansing, Michigan where he provides health consultations. For each client, Dr. Bob advises, “This is what I would do.” For years he has helped clients focus on what they eat because you are not only what you eat, but you are what you can assimilate and use for body and brain health. Inversely, your body becomes a junkyard for what you cannot assimilate. Avoid junk, processed, and fried food, he suggests, and choose to be a healthy person.

Dr. McCauley’s career began by selling bottled water that he filtered and ozonated. He was a pioneer in marketing bottled water as a health product. But soon he realized that selling water involved lots of trucks, it’s heavy stuff. So he shifted to opening a storefront in Lansing where to this day he sells water to customers that come in and fill up. Now, his water is alkaline ionized water. He recommends starting your day with a glass of water… hydrating the brain. Don’t eat anything, don’t go for coffee. You will notice it, he notes.

Before long, his water customers asked for broader health advice, so he began to study naturopathic medicine, a blend of conventional practices and more holistic therapies. He became certified nutritional consultant, then a master herbalist, and a certified naturopathic doctor. He focused on plant plankton, notably spirulina and chlorella, what he calls the kings of all superfoods. Grown in controlled environments — mostly in Taiwan — spirulina and chlorella are the most nutritionally dense foods in the world. They are good sources of macronutrients, being 60% protein and 6% beneficial fats, with a plethora of micronutrients that nourish our bodies. They come in tablet and powder form.

The conversation digs into the benefits of alkaline ionized water. The water begins as normal tap water, then it is filtered, then run run over anode and cathode electrodes, creating negative and positive ions in water that in turn form powerful antioxidants. Just like raw fruits and vegetables, the water provides invaluable antioxidants that greatly help digestion. These also push out toxins that do not perform necessary functions in our bodies. Dr. McCauley’s diet is full of greens like kale spinach, arugula. He buys seasonal fruits that he says are light in his stomach. He also recommends probiotics with every meal, helping to assimilate proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and oils to keep us trim.

Dr. McCauley urges listeners to know where their food comes from. He eats nothing from a box or can or jar. It’s all fresh and natural. To buy his books — of which there are now eight available — and his nutritious spirulina, chlorella, and other products, visit DrBobMcCauley.com.
