Eight firms participated in the mandatory job walk of the site in Dutchess County; eight firms prepared and submitted bids on time for the system that when coupled with energy efficiency, will reduce the campus’s greenhouse gas footprint by 40%.
Millbrook School has pledged carbon neutrality by 2020 and has hired EcoMotion to develop the strategy to do so, a strategy that includes solar, efficiency, geothermal, and ultimately biofuels.
Upon Board approval, EcoMotion will help the school select a vendor to partner in the preparation of a bid to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for incentive funding. If an award is granted, Millbrook School may well be able to “go solar” with no money down, and to get power at a discounted rate for the next 25 years.
