Andrew Waddell joins EcoMotion as a Solar Project Manager. He is passionate about the clean energy transition and considers himself to be a creative problem-solver and energy nerd who is excited by the gritty details and the big-picture vision of decarbonizing the electricity sector.
Additionally, Andrew is currently pursuing a professional Master’s of Science in Energy Systems Management at the University of San Francisco, where his primary areas of research are microgrids, DERs, and grid modernization. His studies are devoted to understanding how renewable energy projects are financed, how such projects are impacted by various regulatory frameworks and policies across the United States, and how the grid can evolve to accommodate very high penetrations of variable renewable energy and novel distribution systems.
His primary responsibility at EcoMotion is supporting contracts and clients such as Chula Vista Elementary and Orange Unified School Districts, Solar Santa Monica, LA Metro, and CPA. He’ll provide expert consulting and support for our projects related to energy resiliency, specifically renewable energy infrastructure such as solar + storage microgrids and electric transportation.
Originally from Texas, Andrew graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Comparative Religion, and a minor in Spanish. Before pursuing his Master’s of Science in Energy Systems Management at the University of San Francisco, Andrew earned a Master’s in Creative Writing and taught writing at UC Riverside. He also served as a section editor for the Los Angeles Review of Books.
Moving back to Los Angeles, where he was once a long-time resident, Andrew brings his expertise in quantitative environmental analyses to EcoMotion, as well as a breadth of knowledge in decarbonization of the electricity sector.
