Glendale Hires EcoMotion to Establish Sustainability Office
By a unanimous vote, on June 18, 2019 the Glendale City Council authorized its city manager to execute a contract with EcoMotion to establish the City’s first Sustainability Office. Glendale has been tackling sustainability measures in multiple and effective ways, with responsibility spread among city departments. Now the Council has authorized staff to coordinate the effort and to raise awareness about the City’s goals and progress. EcoMotion will a) evaluate existing activities within the city, b) will study best practices from California, across the United States, and from leaders around the world, c) will complete a GAP analysis of Glendale’s current roster of activities to determine areas that need to be included and improved, d) will make recommendations to the City on the organizational design and functions of the office, and e) will provide staffing for its first year.
