Talia Arnow has joined EcoMotion’s Campus Services team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. With a background in ecology, evolution, and environmental studies, and a passion for dance and gift for leadership, Arnow is a welcome addition. According to Campus Services Director, Sierra Flanigan, “Talia is a perfect fit for EcoMotion. She’s smart, passionate, organized, energetic, and dedicated… just the right attributes to make a difference on campus.”

Arnow is a graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. On campus, she was an active member of the Environmental Action Club. Then she became an elected official of the Skidmore student government where she spearheaded the creation of the student sustainability committee. This helped administrators recognize the new level of student demand for sustainable practices on campus, which led to creation of the Dean of Infrastructure, Civic Engagement and Sustainability position, the hiring of two sustainability fellows, and a functioning campus sustainability committee.

Arnow then worked to enhance the Committee’s operating codes to include a broader definition of sustainability that involves a three-pillar approach focusing on environmental stewardship, social justice, and economic viability. In her senior year, Arnow won Skidmore’s Senior Leadership Award.

After her graduation, Skidmore hired her to develop and implement a leadership program for local youth. At EcoMotion, one of her first assignments will be to develop and then manage Bryant University’s new Eco-Rep program. “I have a calling to work with students, to continue to encourage them to take empowering steps on campus like I did.” She’ll also be promoting green revolving funds to New England institutions through EcoMotion’s work with the Sustainable Endowments Institute.

EcoMotion’s Executive Director, Ted Flanigan, is pleased with the selection of Arnow. “We had dozens of applicants, really good ones. Some were over-qualified, frankly. Talia has abundant energy and enthusiasm to grow into her position.”  She will be based at the new HUB Boston in Cambridge.
