Ted Speaks at the School Energy Coalition Spring Summit
On Wednesday, March 21, Ted Flanigan spoke at the School Energy Coalition Spring Summit in Sacramento. His topic: “The First Powered Emergency Response Centers (PERCs).” Ted recanted the story of their genesis, from an nascent battery concept in Monterey County, to the development of six PERCs at Santa Rita Union School District, where each campus will soon be able to “island” during short and prolonged power outages. And in extreme emergencies, these PERCs will serve as invaluable emergency response centers for community benefit. Ted was joined in the Energy Resiliency panel by Juan Mireles of the California Department of Education — who showed horrific photos of burned-out schools in Santa Rosa — and Rick Brown of Terra Verde Energy.
